Competition for: Junior Plant Breeding Specialist

Applications are invited for the position of Junior Plant Breeding Specialist within the First Team project (FENG.02.02-IP.05-0257/23) entitled:

„Development of Biocompatible Porphyrinoid Derivatives as Light-Activated Crop Protection Agents.”

Unit Name: Poznan University of Medical Sciences, Karol Marcinkowski (PUMS), Department of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry

Key responsibilities

  • establishing and maintaining in vitro and in vivo cultures of selected plant species;
  • planning, conducting, and supervising experiments evaluating the activity of selected active compounds against plant pathogens;
  • carrying out part of the research at the experimental fields of the Poznań University of Life Sciences (field work), including preparation of field experiments, monitoring plant growth, and collecting plant material for further analyses;
  • ensuring that all laboratory and field experiments comply with applicable regulations and safety requirements;
  • providing direct supervision and guidance to a PhD student and an undergraduate student during laboratory and field work;
  • processing, analyzing, and archiving biological data generated during plant research.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in biology, biotechnology, pharmacy, agriculture, horticulture, plant protection, or another related life science discipline (a PhD degree will be considered an advantage);
  • experience in in vitro and/or in vivo plant culture;
  • experience in laboratory work involving plant material;
  • knowledge of plant biology and plant pathology techniques will be considered an advantage;
  • willingness to perform field work at the experimental fields of the Poznań University of Life Sciences;
  • ability to work independently and maintain accurate research documentation;
  • ability to analyze and interpret experimental data;
  • good command of English sufficient to read scientific literature;
  • good teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.

We offer

  • employment period: 1 September 2026 – 31 August 2028;
  • monthly salary: PLN 7,000 gross (gross employer cost);
