COMPETITION FOR THE POSITION OF DOCTORAL STUDENT IN THE PROJECT First Team (Feng 2021-2027) Foundation for Polish Science

Dr. Daniel Ziental, the project leader, announces the recruitment for a PhD candidate position in the First Team Feng project, funded by the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP). The project is titled: „Development of Biocompatible Porphyrinoid Derivatives as Light-Activated Plant Protection Agents.”

Requirements:

  • Completed higher education (field: pharmacy, forensic and criminal analytics, biotechnology, molecular biology, medical analytics, or other related fields).
  • Knowledge of plant cultivation, with particular emphasis on in vitro cultures.
  • Documented laboratory experience in studying the growth and development parameters of cultivated plants.
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, at least at a B2 level.
  • Availability, ability to work independently and in a team, scientific curiosity, motivation, self-discipline, communication skills, analytical thinking.
  • Meeting the conditions for scholarship grants according to the FNP regulations: Regulations for awarding scholarships as support for Project scholars under Action 2.2. First Team (Feng 2021-2027) Foundation for Polish Science.
  • Meeting the recruitment conditions of the UMP Doctoral School: https://szkoladoktorska.ump.pagepress.pl/rekrutacja-szkola-doktorska (including a minimum GPA of 3.2 and a minimum of 4 points for scientific activity).
  • Documented previous scientific activity (at least one scientific publication or conference presentation).

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting experimental work in the laboratory according to the project research plan: from optimization through experiment execution, analysis, and presentation of results. Experiments will include the implementation of newly developed light-activated plant protection agents under in vitro, in vivo, and in situ cultivation conditions. Some work will involve field experiments.
  • Participating in team meetings.
  • Reporting results to the project leader.
  • Preparing scientific publications and participating in scientific conferences.
  • Meeting the requirements of the studies according to the UMP Doctoral School Regulations: https://szkoladoktorska.ump.pagepress.pl/rekrutacja-szkola-doktorska (including the completion of courses according to the schedule, teaching up to 60 hours per year, preparing a series of scientific publications or submitting a monograph as a doctoral dissertation).

Employment Conditions:

  • Doctoral scholarship for 48 months, amounting to 5000 PLN gross gross (approx. 3700-3900 PLN during the first two years and approx. 4600 PLN after the mid-term evaluation).
  • Planned start: October 1, 2024.
  • Location: Department of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry.

Recruitment: The recruitment process is two-stage. The first stage involves a qualification interview with the project leader’s team. Selected candidates must then submit the appropriate documentation to the UMP Doctoral School and undergo the Doctoral School’s recruitment process according to the regulations (https://szkoladoktorska.ump.pagepress.pl/rekrutacja-szkola-doktorska).

  • The candidate’s CV, with particular emphasis on previous laboratory experience and scientific achievements (publications, conference participation), information on completed workshops, internships, and professional practices, received awards, distinctions, and scholarships, and participation in scientific clubs.
  • Contact information for two referees.
  • A cover letter.
  • Verified information on the completion of studies and obtained GPA, a copy of the diploma of higher education.
