COMPETITION FOR THE POSITION OF YOUNGER SPECIALIST FOR CHEMICAL SYNTHESIS IN THE First Team PROJECT (Feng 2021-2027) Foundation for Polish Science

Position Title: Junior Specialist in Chemical Synthesis

Project leader, Dr. Daniel Ziental, announces a recruitment for the position of Junior Specialist in Chemical Synthesis in the First Team Feng project funded by the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP), titled “Development of Biocompatible Porphyrinoid Derivatives as Light-Activated Plant Protection Agents.”

Requirements:

  • PhD in Medical and Health Sciences or in Exact and Natural Sciences
  • Knowledge of issues related to the synthesis of macrocyclic compounds and chemical analysis
  • Documented laboratory experience, particularly in NMR, UV-VIS spectroscopy, HPLC, and related methods
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, at least at the B2 level
  • Availability, ability to work independently and in a team, scientific curiosity, motivation, self-discipline, communication skills, analytical thinking
  • Fulfillment of the criteria for a Young Scientist according to the definition of the Foundation for Polish Science
  • Documented scientific achievements (cumulative IF above 50 and Hirsch Index above 5)

Responsibilities:

  • Supervision, care, and scientific mentoring of PhD students and students assigned to work on the synthesis of new light-activated compounds
  • Conducting experimental work in the laboratory according to the project research plan, with particular emphasis on the synthesis, purification, and characterization of new macrocyclic compounds and scaling up the project results to enable industrial technology applications
  • Participation in work related to the potential patent application of the research results
  • Participation in team meetings
  • Reporting results to the project leader
  • Preparing scientific publications and participating in scientific conferences

Employment Conditions:

  • Employment contract for 24 months, with a gross salary of 7,000 PLN
  • Planned start date: October 1, 2024
  • Location: Department of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry

Recruitment: Interviews with selected candidates who meet the recruitment criteria will take place on September 13, 2024, starting at 7:00 AM.
